As if I needed another outlet for my opinions....

Welcome to the first of what I hope will be many informative and amusing admittedly one-sided discussions of topics on the fascinating boundary where science and society merge. Among the topics germane to this boundary include science and literature, science and education, and science and pseudoscience. If you have a topic you'd like me to tackle, please leave a comment! As for the title of this blog, that will be explained another day.

For now, I'll just leave you with the following musings: Uranus was almost named George's Star or Herschel. So the next time you feel uncomfortable pronouncing Urine-us or Your-anus, stop and think about how boring the name of the planet might have been!
